I remember being a teenager and talking to my dad and thinking all the time that he didn’t know what he was talking about (I know I’m so ashamed!) The older I get the more I see him as a person. Not just a dad. The more I know him, the more I love him and the older I get the more I think he knows exactly what he’s talking about. I feel like taking the time to listen, really listen to people and really try to see them, the more you can’t help but love them.

I feel like sometimes I’ve got to stop and remind myself that the cashier, the barista, the waiter, the boss are all just people and to not get in a habit of treating them like their “role” and instead treat them like a person. He always thought before he spoke and everyone knew this about him, so when he spoke people listened. He was such a fascinating person. He and my granny were recently killed in a gas explosion and I miss them terribly! I’m so glad that I realized before he was gone what a special, wise person he was and took the time to talk with him. Thank you for the reminder.
