My Life

Pregnancy Tag

Has anyone else noticed how many pregnant bloggers there are right now!? Barefootblonde, Caraloren, Emilynoel and thedaybook just to name a few.

It kind of makes me feel bad for all of you who aren’t currently pregnant (so, most of you I’m guessing) because in my experience pregnancy isn’t nearly as interesting when you’re not currently experiencing it! But it kind rocks for everyone who is cause you’ve got tons of fashion advice to use and a bunch of sisters right there with ya!

Now, this is probably because I am with child but I find myself wanting to know more about everyone else’s pregnancies, so I thought it would be fun to start a little pregnancy tag to hear about all the goings on.

How far along are you? 19 Weeks today!

How did you find out? Well, no one really believed me about this but I swear I can feel the implantation! With both this baby and Christian I felt weird cramping right about when the baby would be implanting. Both times I was absolutely convinced it was a baby and took a positive pregnancy test a good week before I even missed my period!

Morning sickness?Β Yes. Lots and lots of it!

Are you finding out the sex?! YES! It’s a boy!!!!! ( was sure both times around that it was a girl before the ultrasound…shows what I know!) Nick and I were super excited, Christian was SO disappointed he was really rooting for a sister. He’s come around to the idea now but still asks me every once in a while if we can switch him for a girl! haha

Mood changes? Not anything huge. I feel like I’m definitely more weepy, pretty much anything even a little touching totallyΒ brings on the water works. Also, I feel a little more opinionated, in a way that I feel like EVERYONE needs to hear my opinion about everything. I usually don’t feel that way at all!

Cravings? Now that I’m mostly past the aversions I am starting to experience the CRAVINGS! Which are WAY more fun, but sometimes strange. I ate a whole jar of pickles in two days. Salt and vinegar chips. Club sandwiches (with the toasted bread).

Other symptoms?Β Tired constantly. My hair is thicker! My skin seems to be breaking out less. And I have gas. Sorry but it’s true, and so NOT fun!

Excited for!? That beautiful baby to come out, of course! I seriously am having MAJOR baby hunger. I just hear the word baby and I’m like “Where?! Get it in my arms!”

Nursery? Haven’t even begun on that yet!

Do you have a name picked out? Yes. When Nick and I were dating he told me he wanted to name his son Will. I loved it. We are going to name him William and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna call him Billy:)

Any Pregnancy MUST HAVES?Β I really don’t know! I kinda want to buy that pregnancy pillow that people rave about but I’d really like to hear if anyone has some good advice on that!

OK so I wanna hear from any of you who are pregnant too! And I’m gonna tag Amber at since she’s almost done!

Hope I didn’t bore any of you too much with all this baby talk:)

Haha!!! I am right there with you!!! I am 19 weeks pregnant today with my fifth boy!!!! He will be our 6th child and our last which kind of makes me sad that I won’t experience this part of motherhood again. It’s crazy because at the same time I think pregnancy is hard. I have morning sickness or as I call it 24/7 sickness:) With this pregnancy unisom and B6 has really actually helped me…yay!!! I am so tired I could sleep for 9 months, but who can do that when you have 5 kids ranging from 14-1 years old. We don’t have a name…boy names are so stinkin hard for me!! If anyone has aby suggestions throw them out! Our family was REALLY hoping for a girl but are super excited for this little man to join our lives!!! Cravings…chips and salsa for ever and steak! So excited for you! We can talk anytime since our bodies are doing exactly the same thing!!!! XOXO!! Melanie

WOW! You have so much more self control than I did! I had to know the sex the minute it was possible! haha and with Christian I was doing the same thing…as soon as I was full term I did every wives tale out there! I don’t really remember them now just walked a lot and ate spicy food!

sex worked like a charm as a home induction remedy. I was in labor an hour right after, and although that was the last thing I wanted to do in the state that I was, it worked.

Sex worked for us. Sperm contains a prostaglandin, I heard. Evening primrose oil taken orally and vaginally works too. You can buy it from Walgreens, CVS, etc. Btw, I didn’t find out the sex of my second child. I thought it was a girl, but it was a boy! πŸ™‚ Good luck!

If you’re referring to the Bump Nest pillow, it’s amaaaazing! So comfortable! (Until 3rd trimester when nothing’s comfortable.) And it’s been super useful on this side of delivery as a nursing pillow. Plus, every pillow case you get (it comes with one), comes with a “scraps hat.” They make a baby hat out of the scraps from your pillowcase. It’s super cute!!

    Btw, congratulations!!

Hi Cara! I’m 4 weeks away from having our 3rd boy, who will all be 16 months apart. (Yep, that math would be a 2 yr old, a 1 yr old, and baby). We love the noisy, wonderful fun of our fellas! I found you not long after I had baby #2 last yr and learning to hac totally streamlined my routine! Thank you!
Pillows… I have the Boppy pregnancy body pillow which I did not have for the first two. It has made getting comfy easier. My massage therapist reccomended the Sobakawa pillow for my head and neck. I didn’t realize how much I was pulling on my neck and shoulders until now! I hope this helps! Blessings!

So very exciting! I had the pickle cravings too … and the salt and vinegar chips. One day, I diced the pickles and scooped them up on the salt and vinegar chips. In my second pregnancy (with a girl) I was a sucker for all things grapefruit (which I never really liked before).

    Good luck!

Cara. Not pregnant here, already have 6 sweet babies. Even though our youngest is only 3, my oldest is 14 and DH says he’s done. We’ll see. I’m always ready for one more. I love hearing about your journey and preggo fashion is awesome too. I always craved sweet things and greasy things. Not good for the waist line and recovery. Keep thinking if I had one more chance I could do pregnancy with healthier. But I also remember feeling so tired and overwhelmed that my resolve was gone.

25 weeks with baby number seven and its the seventh girl! Everyone feels sorry for my husband but he loves it. I was the one a little bummed this time not to have a boy. I was kind of coveting the mommy- son relationship. But with these girls excited about a new baby, I can’t help but be excited too. I told the family the sex by having a big balloon filled with pink confetti and we popped it! No weird cravings, just this pregnancy I started feeling sick right away, 6 weeks. I didn’t know I was pregnant until like the third day of feeling sick, maybe I’m not sick….? Feeling good right now besides trying to find something that fits and passing out tired every night by 9. Hope the rest of your pregnancy is great for you. Congratulations on your sweet family!

30 weeks (yay 3/4 of the way through!), we had been trying for about six months so it wasn’t much of a surprise ;), our little beansprout is a mystery baby (I kind of think it’s a boy?), no morning sickness, no real mood changes, and no major cravings (no worse than when I wasn’t pregnant). Other symptoms – backaches, heartburn (curse you!), and other tummy issues (you know…). Oh an my scar tissue from an appendectomy has been killinggg me off and on from it trying to stretch. Ugh. Nursery hasn’t even been started and probably won’t be until my husband is on summer break from school (elem. teacher). We’ve got two choice for a boy name and one is William, after my husband’s best friend who passed away. πŸ™‚ I love traditional/old fashioned names. Maybe I’ll end up with a little William/Billy the same age as yours! If ours is a girl…well, that’s still up for discussion. haha! I’m excited to keep following along with you πŸ™‚

I’m 31 weeks with baby number 2. I have a son who’s almost 3 & I’m thrilled that we’ll have a little girl to complete our family. My morning sickness was awful, til about 22 weeks, which seems to be pretty standard for me. Thank Goodness for Zofran. I’m following the old wives take that girls make you wider (darn it!). With my son it just looked like I was smuggling a basketball under my shirt. I’m getting to that anxious point where I just want to meet my little bundle in the worst way. Can’t wait til July so I can hold my Marley Mae πŸ™‚

How far along are you: i think about 8.5 weeks. My first appointment is next week.

How did you find out: I was so so sick, and missed a period but i’ve done that before when i got sick. I thought it was a sinus infection! Since i said i had missed my period, my doc went ahead and gave me a test. And surprise surprise, it was positive!

Morning sickness: All-Day sickness, up until about 7 or 8pm πŸ™

Are you finding out the sex: As soon as i can! I have a feeling it will be a girl.

Mood changes: Yes, and they’re just started to even out. When i was so sick i was also about as crabby and pissed off as one person can be.

Cravings: Pickles and ranch dressing lol and all forms of mexican food!

Other symptoms: super sore boobies πŸ™ tired and out of breath all day.

Excited for: Everything, and scared! This is my first baby, and i have no idea what i’m doing lol

Nursery: Well i know which room it’s going to be in, that’s as far as we’ve gotten.

Do you have a name picked out: I have a list, but nothing singled out yet. Will probably wait until i know what we’re having to get serious about the names.

I am 22 weeks pregnant with my first and it’s a boy. I had a feeling I was pregnant when my boobs hurt way way more than they ever have before. I took a test and wah-la! We found out the gender last week and had a gender reveal party. It was a lot of fun. We are still up in the air on the name. I was sick from about 6 weeks to 12 weeks. I feel pretty good now other than heartburn, being tired and back ache. No real cravings still, but I have major adversions to chicken. It has been hard for me to keep my weight gain under control, which I am not happy about, but trying not to stress too much about it. I just hope it will come off easy after I have my little guy. I am still working out 2-3 times a week. Thank you so much for sharing your pregnancy journey. I too love reading about others that are pregnant. I am very excited to meet my lil man.

I will be 17 wks on Sunday. It’s our first. We will find out the sex in 3 wks. I call it a girl. My husband just laughs at me. I bought the bumpnest pillow at 9 wks because everyone said their only regret was not getting it sooner. It’s worth every penny! I am craving sweets (lemonade and twizzlers) and red meat! I knew with implantation too! Other than planning on Pinterest, no set plans for nursery. I get annoyed a lot easier, but no crying. Hate to say this, but no throwing up. I’d get nauseous, and I’d eat something and feel better. Only 3 days was I absolutely miserable. A lot of food aversions in the beginning-could not eat raw vegetables or white meat.

    Congrats on your pregnancy Cara!

I’m 34 weeks with our 2nd baby (we have a 2.5 year old boy). This one is a girl. I had the smoothest pregnancy with our first and with this one I have been sick the entire time. Nausea, food aversions, the works. And she’s super low so she’s on my sciatic all day. It’s all worth it in the end thank goodness! We have 4 names picked out and can’t seem to narrow it down. We’re keeping the names a surprise and probably won’t decide until she’s born. I have used the Snoozer body pillow both pregnancies (and in between them both as well) and it has been a lifesaver! I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be sleeping without it because it’s the most comfortable I can get right now πŸ™‚

I was so excited when you announced your pregnancy! Yay! It’s my first so I’m enamored with all things pregnancy right now!
    I’m 27 weeks along
We had been trying for a month and a half and I was late (this is our after chemo miracle baby, they thought I would need to use the eggs they froze for me so I broke down crying because I still hadn’t had my period and turns out I was preggers! Hahaha best moment of my life so far! )
I had some morning sickness at the beginning but well worth it! Stopped like clockwork at 14 weeks. So weird.
    It’s a boy!!!! I’m so excited πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Not too much mood change wise other than I think everything is so tender and sweet. Lol
Craving fruit fruit fruit! Mostly citrus. I could live off of Jamba Juice!
I’m so excited for this baby to come but I also love feeling him kick around all the time, my constant companion. I like knowing he’s safe and someday he’ll be out running around and I will be a crazy mom worrying. πŸ™‚
Yep- I’ve decorated and organized it but then we had a shower so it’s kind of like a bomb with off right now. We have another one so I’m trying to leave it that way until after the next. Key word TRYING
Get the Bump Nest body pillow!!!! I got the Boppy, the Snoogle and the Bump Nest (what can I say, I like to be comfy when I sleep) and I will never live again without my Bump Nest. It’s mold able and darling fabrics on top of everything else wonderful πŸ™‚ just email them up for a discount code as well, they are way nice and sent me one! Woot woot

First pregnancy! 12 weeks along. We found out because the father’s mother had a dream we were going to have a baby. I thought she was crazy, but two weeks later I got sick drinking my morning coffee. The best thing about being pregnant: everyone is so nice. You aren’t crazy, I totally felt the implantation also!! It was painful!! My first test was negative… but two weeks later I was still convinced I was pregnant, and it was positive. My doctor thought I was a freaking nutjob (I switched doctors). I also felt my son kicking at 11 weeks, and my doctor told me that it wasn’t possible. I bought a heartbeat monitor and he totally was kicking. I switched OB’s at 20 weeks because I was sick of being told that I didn’t know what I was talking about.

I don’t have a blog though…oh well πŸ™‚ I got the bump nest pillow and my review: overall, absolutely worth it. cons, yes it is rather pricey and I think the quality of the case could be better, as mine is already pilling (been using it since pretty early on though, long before I was showing, maybe 9-10 weeks? it was on sale for $20 off so I went for it!). pros, the comfort it gives and adjustable-ness of the shape is so helpful to me, especially for the recommended side sleeping!

I love the name will too, I’d be using it except my babies are both of the lady variety πŸ˜› hope your morning sickness lets up soon!

Hi there! I’m pregnant with my second boy also! 27 weeks today. For a hard core OREO cookie lover like me, the weirdest thing during the first trimester was that after having two cookies I had to “wash them down” with pickles!!!! I felt like such a traitor to my beloved OREO’s! I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy!

Yes! I felt implantation too! All throughout that day I was texting my SIL saying “somethings up! This is NOT normal.” I felt a weird pinch-y feeling on one side and my uterus fell very full. Like someone had stuffed Thanksgiving dinner or a softball in there — weird analogy, but that’s the only way I could describe it! I took a test that night (at least a week earlier than I should have) and it was positive. The next day my boobs felt like they had been run over by a truck!

Any way, congrats again! We need to see some fashion/bump pics πŸ™‚

I just had my #3 baby about two months ago… and thank goodness it is over! I had everything:hyperemesis, heartburn, back aches, hip pain, and a uti… no fun- but my little guy is worth all if that and more.

My must haves were a couple Old Navy Jersey Tamis… especially the last two months when my belly was huge. The tamis were long enough to cover my tummy and my bum because all I wanted to wear were leggings!

I have the huge pregnancy pillow that’s basically u-shaped? It’s like 2.5 body pillows in one! I think it’s overkill…from what my OB-GYN told me I really just need something to wedge behind my back to prevent me from laying flat on my back all night. The snoogle might not be bad idea, but I think a body pillow may work just as well.

No babies here. I’m getting married next year, but I’m already very excited about our future babies! Just don’t tell my fiancΓ© that! πŸ˜‰ I was never sure if I wanted kids, then I turned 29 and bam! I can’t wait to have my own. Guess that internal clock thing is real, huh? Anyways, I love reading about pregnancy. Never too early to start taking notes!

I debated on the BumpNest pillow forever… I was getting headaches from not sleeping well and I had some neck pain that I think caused it. I was going to start going to the chiropracter, I figured though they give you the trial time. Yup, best 100 bucks I have ever spent on pregnancy gear. I would do it again. You sometimes have to re-distribute the fluffing in it, but I don’t find that it gets wore out or anything just needs to be wiggled back into place. I would recommend it to anyone. You won’t regret it especially when you start sleeping better.

I’m 27 weeks with my first and having a boy! We had been trying for a while and I actually found out while we were on a cruise in the Caribbean. I was supposed to have my period that week but it never came. Which is a total win-win. Because really, who wants to be on their period while on a cruise?

The only thing I craved at first was milk. I wanted milk ALL THE TIME. Now I’ve moved on to salt & vinegar chips which I never liked pre-pregnancy. However, I’ve given up both of those to do a clean eating Whole30. My first trimester totally destroyed my eating habits and I want to get back on track now that I’m not sick and don’t have any food aversions anymore!

Anyway keep posting the pregnancy stuff! I love it!

Having #5 in about 18 days! Earlier if I’m lucky! I don’t have a “pregnancy pillow” but I do have a long pillow I use every night! My must for pregnancy is one of those plastic cups with lid and straw that match. I keep it filled with water or unsweetened tea and drink all day. Congrats on your baby boy! I have two boys and three girls.

Woohoo, baby talk! It takes up such a huge part of my brain and I feel like everyone is sick of hearing about it!

~ I’m 36.5 weeks along with my first and ready to be done!
~We were trying and I started taking tests before it even really made sense to.
~I had hyperemesis gravidarum for the first 20 weeks. I still get sick fairly often, though.
    ~Yup, I hate surprises! We’re having a boy
~I cry at silly things like commercials but nothing drastic.
~I am all about brussels sprouts and coffee ice cream (not in the same sitting, though).
~I’m in a lot of pain. I’ve had major back pain and now I have a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions that hurt like the real thing. (My mom had those, too and then she had really easy labors so I’m hopeful! :D)
~For the baby to get here! A friend from my childbirth class had hers last week and I am soooo jealous. I want the baby to be on the outside!
~ Our nursery is ready to go! I got that done really early. It’s one thing I had some control over!
~ We had a name picked out before I got pregnant but we’re not announcing it until he’s here. We don’t want to open our choice to comments.
~ I’ve got a mega pillow that I use now but I made do with a nest of regular bed pillows for a long time.

My Son is four and my only, (so far) and I still get excited for other people when they’re pregnant and I want to know all their pregnancy biz, (well, maybe not All…LOL) so, share on! Those who matter don’t mind and those who do, don’t matter. πŸ˜‰ Sorry to hear about your morning sickness? Has anyone mentioned Papaya extract? I had a friend who had some severe morning sickness and she said that Papaya extract really helped her. I’ve used it myself just for upset tummy. I bought some from GNC in chewable tablet form but, you might be able to get them other places. As far as I know, they’re safe for baby but, check with your care provider first, of course. Excited for you and your family! =)

How far along are you: 14 weeks, 3 days with our first baby!

How did you find out: Dizziness and throwing up at work. That was a good clue. πŸ˜‰

Morning sickness: That’s an understatement! I was constantly sick until the 12th week.

Are you finding out the sex: Yes, we find out in June! I think it’s a boy and my husband assumes my intuition is 100% right. I have to keep reminding him that I could certainly be wrong!

Mood changes: Guilty. It’s like constant PMS, but worse. I think it’s getting better, though!

Cravings: KFC mashed potatoes and gravy OMG! I eat them every other day! And fruit. Someone mentioned Jamba Juice above and I’m pretty sure I need it ASAP. Especially their secret “Pink Star” smoothie… tastes exactly like pink starburst!

Other symptoms: Lots of food aversions. I can’t smell/eat meat at all anymore and that’s really made cooking hard. Husband keeps grilling burgers and it makes me gag. πŸ™

Excited for: I’ve always wanted to know what it’s like to feel the baby move so I can’t wait to feel him/her hiccup, kick, etc!

Nursery: We are converting our guest bedroom (aka storage room) into the nursery but that involves a lot of slow organization. Boo. I’ve painted half the room, but that’s it.

Do you have a name picked out: Not yet, but we know we want it to be biblical.

Any pregnancy MUST HAVES: Besides mashed potatoes? I probably need to start looking into this pregnancy pillow you speak of…

    – How far along are you?
    24 weeks

    – How did you find out?
My doctor was concerned that my cycle each month was over 40 days. He recommended that I take provera so that the lining of my uterus doesn’t become too thick. Before taking provera, I had to take a pregnancy and Boom!! It was positive. Needless to say that I lived in denial for quite some time

    – Morning sickness?
3-4 times a week during the first trimester

-Are you finding out the sex?!
    Yes, it’s a girl

    – Mood changes?
Not too much but I am definitely ornery some days, especially when I haven’t eaten

    – Cravings?
Initially it was Chinese foods. Now it is Indian cuisine and marshmallows!!

How far along are you: 11 weeks, 5 days

How did you find out: We didn’t think we could have any more kids (we have a 7 year old). We tried and tried (with fertility meds/procedures help to no avail). When my period was late, honestly, I assumed I had ovarian cancer or something! After all the negative tests in the past, I really didn’t want to see another one, but I bit the bullet and took one. I couldn’t have been more shocked!

Morning sickness: It’s subsiding now, but it felt like I had a hangover!

Are you finding out the sex: Absolutely! I can’t stand the suspense!

Mood changes: Not really, though I DO get teary a lot. Mostly over animal stories.

Cravings: They’re all over the map.

Other symptoms: Sore boobs for sure. Think I’m finally getting some energy back.

Excited for: Oh everything. I can’t believe this is happening.

Nursery: I don’t know what to do about this b/c we’ll be moving about the time the baby is born o_o

Do you have a name picked out: Probably won’t start throwing those around until we find out the gender.

Congrats to ALL expecting Mamas! I’m NOT prego, thank God! Just wanted to put my 2Β’ in. I got the super long body pillow and it helped out tremendously! For the first time mamas out there- def splurge and get the “Boppy”! It was such a big help with just about everything ( great photo prop ) especially nursing since my back got injured while I was prego. { FYI it’s super easy to slip a disc and/or pinch nerves so be careful} My daughter is 3 now and still uses her “Boppy” to this day!

Sadly my doctors advise against any more children as the pregnancy could paralyze me now, but I thank God for my wonderful perfect little girl everyday. Prayers for healthy babies and happy times to come! God bless y’all

I think I have been more than clear regarding how I feel about being empathetic toward people who cannot conceive (even though I am pregnant myself). Clearly, my comments have been either ignored or worse yet, intentionally thrown back in my face by way of this post. I feel like I have been polite about this topic so far but now, I have had enough.

It’s one thing to mention that you’re pregnant. It’s another to bring it up every chance you get despite the gentle feedback you’ve received asking you to please tone it down.

The time has come where your blog is no longer in line with my interests and opinions.

Love your makeup blog! I’m a follower, love your posts and product suggestions! More than a little disappointed with all the pregnancy posts to be honest. You are right, there are LOTS is pregnancy bloggers, if a pregnant woman wants to read about pregnancy, she can follow one of the many. So happy for you and your growing family, but we want makeup tips, not preggo talk. Bad business decision as well, so many young women follow you that are not and have never been pregnant or worse can’t get pregnant. For those the pregnancy posts are a real turn off. For a very very small percentage so your followers who just happen to be pregnant, and posted above, they are the exception! More makeup and hair posts, please. Love you, happy for you, but enough with the pregnancy stuff.

    Hi Cara!!

LOVE this post, I’m 30wks in with No.4 and have really enjoyed reading all these lovely ladies responses, especially the Mothers to 6 and 7 children – amazing and SO inspiring!!

This pregnancy was a huge surprise. I had always wanted 4 children but would not have planned this one so close to the last, as I both had baby and broke my ankle last year – would’ve liked more time to recover from both ideally but I truly believe you’re blessed to get what you get when you get it! I was simply late for my period and took a test to find out. Like I say, BIG surprise!

I’ve not really had any sickness or cravings but have been extremely tired (and as a result, I think, a lot more emotional) and have been prescribed an Iron supplement which has really helped. My hair is also thicker and needs washing less which is great as I would usually need to wash it every other day due to greasy roots – ugh, sorry…

We’re having a boy (already have a boy, girl and then boy) which I am now happy about but when they told me I sobbed as I was really hoping for a sister for my girl and felt like I’d let her down (emotions, much?). He also has club feet so we have a bit of a road ahead but I’m in love already and wouldn’t change a thing.

Myself and hubster have totally opposite opinions about names but the are 3 I like and we’ve potentially agreed on one which is a huge achievement πŸ˜‰ We always keep the name secret til baby comes as we like a little surprise of sorts for the family.

Both excited and nervous for when he comes. Thanks again for this post I just love hearing how you’re doing and reading about other women’s experiences.
