My hair is fine and I’ve got a lot of it.
Which is a total recipe for disaster for tangled up tresses as a youngster.

May 6, 2014 at 4:15 amI don’t have a lot of hair but it is fine. Fine hair is so freaking tangly! The worst, is in the winter, on bulky sweaters. It tangles in no time! I’ll have to check out this brush, though.

May 6, 2014 at 4:17 amI am so happy to know I’m not the only one who had a bowl cut and got mistaken for a boy from birth to 4th grade!! My hair is extremely fine and I too am obsessed with the wet brush!!

May 6, 2014 at 4:28 amI never comment on anything but I have to tell you this I love! I also love your blog. I’m not a girly girl and neither is my daughter but I am holding out hope that my granddaughter will be. I grew up as ‘snarehair’ too, although the children of my time were not so kind with their comments. My daughter also inherited some thick tangle tresses (a very patient little girl that let her self taught mommy de-tangle and style that mess to spare her snarehair status). So far my granddaughter has the silky straight hair of a 7 month old but her 2 yr old brother has come into his curls now and our sweet little girl also has a daddy with thick wavy hair so … I will definitely be looking for the ‘wet brush’. Thanks so much for sharing. Love your work and your blog. Good luck with your beautiful expanding family.

May 6, 2014 at 4:39 amHave you tried the tangle teaser? My saviour! I used to hate brushing my hair and avoided doing so at all costs until I purchased that baby. Now I generally (I’m not perfect!) have under control hair 🙂

May 6, 2014 at 4:54 amSounds pretty much like the Tangle Teezer! MY TT has been shelved after it didnt help with hair breakage!

May 6, 2014 at 5:22 amI LOVE this brush!!! I got it for my youngest daughter’s “snarehair”. @Divya — this is not like the Tangle Teezer. My oldest daughter has the Tangle Teezer and it doesn’t work very well for my youngest daugher’s hair. However, this one works like a charm. I don’t know how it does it because it looks like many other brushes out there — but trust me, this one is different. It really works!

May 6, 2014 at 6:03 amOOOh! My fine and wavy hair could totally handle this. I usually just brush right before I shower so its more manageable- Ill have to try this!

May 6, 2014 at 6:11 amMy 9 year old daughter has VERY THICK, very long hair. We were told about the wet brush and it is Magic. Now I’m looking for a second one and can’t find one!!! The wet brush works great with our other magical life-changer: that good old fashioned Johnson and Johnson No More Tangles. From the baby section. Together they have changed our mornings for the better!!!!

May 6, 2014 at 6:29 amyes yes yes!!!! we own 3 of them in our house. my daughter has fine, thin, long hair and its a lifesaver! my son has longer, thick-thick-thick hair and he will only use this brush, as well. we fought for years with hair combing until we came across this gem!

May 6, 2014 at 6:36 amMy older daughter has super thick, SUPER curly hair, and a stylist recommended this to us. We all used it, and yes, it did brush through wet hair very easily. Unfortunately, both of my daughters and myself all have crazy breakage. We all had thick, healthy, strong hair before using this, and couldn’t figure out the problem. My hairstylist said she’s seen SO MANY people come in with previously super healthy hair that has breakage just like ours. The only common denominator is the Wet Brush. 🙁
Tori
May 6, 2014 at 7:15 amI also have super thick curly hair. I have completely forgone using brushes. No combs or brushes have touched my tresses for over 4 years. I found that using a brush, especially when my hair was wet caused the most breakage.
Instead of using a brush or comb I use my fingers and an ample amount of conditioned. When I’m washing my hair I slick on the conditioner and then use my fingers to work through the curls. Fingers are much more forgiving then bristles and as soon as you notice a snag you can add a little extra conditioner to help the hair slide apart rather than tugging and tearing at it. It takes a little extra time and some getting used to but my hair has been much healthier. Also once my hair is dry, I leave it alone. I don’t run my fingers through my hair unless it is wet. This helps to preserve the curl and prevent frizz.
Cara I’m not sure if you’ve heard about the “curly girl method” developed by Lorraine Masey, but it has been a life changer for me. I would recommend it to any of your readers who struggle with their curly or wavy hair.

May 7, 2014 at 1:23 pmAgreed! Curly haired girls have no business touching a brush. I don’t even own one any more.
Debbie
May 6, 2014 at 6:53 amI’m wondering if using product on the hair might help with breakage with the wet brush. I sometimes also throw on some thick leave in conditioning creme on my daughter’a hair before I use the wet brush in her, if the tangles are really bad. That might help for some who have breakage with the wet brush.

May 6, 2014 at 7:24 amNEED this brush! My hair is so thin and fine and blonde it just breaks off. My hair stylist said I am doing all the right things ( heat protectant, damage eraser, biotin, frequent trims, etc) still I have chunks that just break off! Its so embarrassing to have these short pieces right by my face that do not blend in!

May 6, 2014 at 7:32 amMy 3 year old daughter is snarehair, for sure. Her hair is down to her bottom and she has a Grandma that would shoot me dead for cutting it. I’ve got to order this brush for my sanity…and possibly to prevent that nickname from entering kindergarten with her.

May 6, 2014 at 7:52 amThank you! Thank you! My two year old has tons of very long thick hair that tangles like crazy. As soon as i even touches her hair she says. OWWWWEE. Just ordered the brush!

May 6, 2014 at 7:53 amLOVE THIS BRUSH!! My hairdresser gave one to me about a year ago and I don’t know how I ever lived without it! Also try the blow drying version – cuts blow drying time in half! Love the blog – you’re awesome!

May 6, 2014 at 9:15 amI cried at “fancy trimmings!” So funny. I grew up in a house with all boys so I get that! This brush looks cool, I’ll have to try it.

May 6, 2014 at 10:00 amYou know when you are trying to grow out your hair you always get that “rat’s nest” tangle (that’s what I call it) at the back of your head? It’s awful! Well, the wet brush combined with Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner have been the answer to that issue for me. If you haven’t tried that leave-in, I definitely recommend it. I only use it in the back of my hair (only below my ears) as I have very fine hair and don’t want to weigh it down. Btw, it also smells amazing!
Sonia
May 6, 2014 at 10:09 amI’m SO excited to try this brush on my 10 ear old daughter! Her hair gets so tangled, I tell her that birds and other animals are going to come live in it soon if we don’t brush it out, it looks like that much of a nest.
I’ve seen this brush, but had no idea what it was about. I’ll be searching for it at the store this afternoon. Thanks so much for the review!

May 6, 2014 at 10:11 amhmmm… I usually stick with a wide tooth comb and a leave-in conditioner, but this isn’t pricey so I might have to give it a shot!

May 6, 2014 at 10:39 amOh my goodness! The salon that does my highlights used this last week after my shampoo because I AM THE ONE who takes FOREVER to comb out! I didn’t buy it…two home shampoos and two miserable comb outs later I went back to get it. Seriously! It cuts 15 minutes off the time it takes me to get ready! Love it. Btw I have super straight, super fine, super silky hair.

May 6, 2014 at 10:42 amI almost think that brushing out tangles after shampooing is the main reason I hate to wash my hair and put it off as long as I can. Is this literally something I can use when my hair is wet? I don’t know how it works but I’m willing to try anything. Spray-in conditioners, detanglers, nothing has worked for me. I don’t remember always having this hideous problem…

May 6, 2014 at 10:51 amThis brush saves lots of hissy fits in the morning with my 5 year old (although putting on pants is still an issue, but we can’t really do anything about that one) 😉

May 6, 2014 at 11:31 amI have a ton of damaged yet fine hair and stylists used to refuse to comb my hair after washing it because it would rip so much out. I found the wetbrush about a year ago and its the only brush I use now! Its a miracle worker!

May 6, 2014 at 11:31 amI really need this brush for my daughter!
Also – I just wanted to share our little tip for terrible tangles – Unique One treatment. It’s just like a leave in conditioner. It doesn’t weigh our fine hair down and makes a huge difference in brush-ability!

May 6, 2014 at 1:16 pmThis could change my mornings forever! No more need for World War III to break out between my daughter and myself! How much is this brush, where can I get one, and do they ship to Australia???

May 7, 2014 at 6:47 amI love my Wet Brush. Like others, I first tried using a Tangle Teezer but it was only a little better than a wide-toothed comb. After not being impressed with it, I decided to try the only other de-tangling brush option at Sallys – the boring, purple Wet Brush that looked a bit like something I could pick up at my local Dollar Tree. My relationship with my hair changed from that day forward. Detangling time for my a hair after a shower is reduced to a mere minute and even though it’s for wet hair. Also!I have definitely forgot to bring my giant, cumbersome round brush with me on vacation and had only my wet brush to smooth and straighten – it worked!

May 7, 2014 at 9:48 amMy daughter needs this brush! She has fine, curly hair. If that isn’t recipe for a head full of tangles enough, she also twirls her hair when she’s tired (she’s 6). She twirls it so tight that I often think just cutting it would be easier than dealing with the whining and pain I have to put her through to brush it out. But, I’m trying to get her through her childhood without the dreaded bowl cut!
kate
May 7, 2014 at 7:41 pmHahaha I was openly mistaken for a boy until 5th grade due to a bowl cut as well… fine hair but lots of it too… love the dread locks that form at my neck when im wearing a scarf…. 😉 must try this! Thanks for the comparisons to tangle teezer.. I have one and its… ok…?

May 7, 2014 at 9:54 pmConair makes a detangling brush for a fraction of the price!! It has the same flexible bristles that don’t snap and break hair. Go get one! I threw away my paddle brush after I found this one at the drugstore.

May 9, 2014 at 4:55 amOk so my daughter has waist length, wavy, fine hair in abundance. It’s beautiful, but taking care of it is painful to her and mentally exhausting for me, she’s 10. I literally ran to Sally’s let her pick the color of the brush and rushed home to brush her overly snarled hair. Best recommendation ever, replacing the last best recommendation which was loreal antique brown shadow for brows.

May 14, 2014 at 6:18 pmThis brush SAVED mine and my kids’ hair at the beach last summer. I’ve been raving ever since. In fact, it’s the only brush I use now and my hair has become so much thicker because I’m not tearing it all out.
Leslie
May 16, 2014 at 5:14 amI have been using this brush for years! I have two daughters (7 & 9) and we all have long thick hair. Sometimes I can even find them at tjmaxx. We must have 6 of these and they’re always missing! I am finding out that this is the beginning of my stuff missing with daughters.

May 17, 2014 at 2:49 pmI just got mine in the mail today. My hair is long and fine and I have tons of it. It tangles so easy, I used to cry and whine when my mom brushed it out. Can’t wait to try it on wet hair, it seems great on dry hair. Thank you for the recommendation.
