I love nude lips. They can be so gorgeous and look so understated and beautiful.
The only problem is if they are not done right …
they can also look invisible, orange and (as Lindzi from The Bachelor is modeling for us) more like milk residue than lipstick.
The Hollywood secret here is the same Hollywood secret for fixing an otherwise lame movie…
Go 3D.
Because, even though your lips are nude you still want them to pop and you still want them to look big, right?
So you need to use 3 items:
Taupe Liner (line then blend), I use CoverGirl Mink Eyeliner
Nude Lipstick,SEPHORA COLLECTION Rouge Shine Lipstick No. 03 Tenderness
Shimmery Gloss ( just dab this in the pout of your lip and on the bow of your lip), I use NYX Mega Shine Gloss in Sugar Pie
Pair this with a smokey eye and say hello to the hotness.

March 22, 2012 at 2:08 pmLove this look! Also, love all of your posts! I’m a new and avid fan. I have a request/suggestion for a makeover. Miranda Lambert. I absolutely LOVE her makeup (and hair, for that matter) and would love your perspective on how it’s done. Something like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/154529830934189384/
or this: http://pinterest.com/pin/154529830933874316/
I’ve heard she uses Too Faced makeup products and would also love your opinion on that brand as well. Just an idea! Thanks!

March 22, 2012 at 4:57 pmOh I love her makeup too! SO pretty! She uses a lot of highlighting and contour! I’ll have to do a tutorial!

March 24, 2012 at 8:01 amThanks for this information, I’m definitely going to try it! I used to use a really light colored lip gloss a long time ago in high school, and my mother always harped that I looked dead. I haven’t tried it since, but you’ve given me hope! 😉 I love your posts and bookmarked you when I read your first post! I think I went on to read every one of them that same day lol. Anyway, thanks for all of your help. Keep up the good work! 🙂

March 25, 2012 at 12:45 pmThank you for telling us exactly what to buy to achieve the looks. That is the hardest part of the process for me… and I have wasted a ton of money here in the past. I recently purchased a few of your favorites and have not been disappointed! Thank you so much 🙂

March 27, 2012 at 11:46 pmI have tried the Mink liner and it is such a dark brown. I even blend it well. In your picture, you can’t see a trace of brown. I have a similar skin tone. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I purchased a bad batch of Mink? Is yours dark as well?

March 28, 2012 at 2:07 amI have had people say that before. I put on a really light coat and I blend it a lot. Although, there is a shade that is the same tone but a little lighter that might work better for you. Same brand but the color is Smokey Taupe.

April 2, 2012 at 6:06 amI just want to say that I just stumbled across your blog and in addition to having really great tutorials and ideas, your writing is fantastic! I have seen a lot of beauty blogs, and yours is by far the most intelligent, well-crafted, coherent and wittiest of them all. So thank you for really great beauty ideas and a truly enjoyable writing style. I hope you keep it up!

April 2, 2012 at 10:46 pmI love this look! You are so beautiful!! I am a recent fan of yours and have tutorial request. How do you do your lashes? They look stunning and I would love to learn. Thanks =)

April 3, 2012 at 2:35 amRecently found you through Pinterest, and really enjoy your posts. You are naturally beautiful, but make beauty attainable for the rest of us 🙂 Thank you! May I make a suggestion for a future tutorial? With all the Twilight hoopla, especially with Kristin Stewart’s character now becoming a vampire, how about a ‘Vampire Bella’ makeup lesson? Really highlighted shimmery skin, stained lips, etc. But keeping it very natural (not Halloween-ish!). You’d do a great job, I’m sure 🙂
Please keep these great tutorials coming!
Thanks again!

September 10, 2012 at 9:18 pmI’ve been searching the web and our local Sephora store for the Impertinent Nude 24. No one can find it. Is there another shade very close to this? This is the most beautiful nude lip I have ever seen!

October 3, 2012 at 4:50 amI love this tutorial, it looks so easy! I’m having a hard time finding which lipstick was used though, was it a matte finish or one of their “rouge cream?” They all say Sephora Collection so I was hoping to figure out which one was shown here. Thanks!

October 6, 2012 at 4:20 amhey I was just wondering what the closest shade to the lipstick would be? I tried looking for that one on line but it looks like they don’t have it anymore! Thanks!

November 1, 2012 at 6:20 pmLove the nude lip look. My problem is that my lips are pinkish already. Any tips on doing a nude lip with pinker lips and having it not look cake? Thanks!

November 4, 2012 at 3:30 pmI love this look! but I can’t seem to find the sephora collection impertinent nude anywhere, is there a similar lipstick to substitute?

March 17, 2013 at 8:50 pmI think all the ladies must remember the technique is what makes or breaks a perfect nude lip. the tips here are great but I don’t think that shade will look perfectly nude on everyone. Pacifica, wet n wild, too faced, hard candy, Laura mercier, benefit and tarte all make gorgeous nude lip colors. I prefer cruelty free, quality and affordable and do nude lips everyday.

August 27, 2013 at 5:00 pmQuestion… maybe a nude lip is not possible for me, buuuut I gotta ask. My lips are pinker, definitely not lacking in color but not overly red either. Can I still get a nude lip without loading on the concealer on top of my lip? thanks!
